This course is designed to introduce adults to the beauty and practice of chanting the Divine Office in the tradition of the Catholic Church. Students will be able to cantor for this liturgy in their own parish.
No prior musical training is required.
Classes will take place at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, in Bienvenu Hall.
Throughout this course, students will learn:
• The structure of the Divine Office
• Basic chant notation
• Psalm tones
• Antiphons and responses
• How to confidently chant the Traditional Office and the Liturgy of the Hours
• Chanting in Latin and English
